Shemeka Archer-Grundy
Shemeka Archer-Grundy was born and raised in the city of Tampa in the sunshine state of Florida. Raised in a Missionary Baptist church by a mother of two, Sheryl, Shemeka, and her younger brother Sean were a close-knit family. Shemeka has always been an avid reader and discovered a love for writing as a preteen. She went on to college, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of South Florida. Though she did not pursue English Literature (her initial desire), she discovered a career that combined two other interests of hers: helping others and making things better than how she found them. By trade, she is a Certified Human Resource Professional and has had this profession for more than a decade. By design, her passion is to empower others by sharing uplifting and motivating messages. This led her to become a certified Life and Career Coach as well as the creator of the brand Above the Coil, a faith-based blog that shares positive messages and some of her favorite pastimes. She deems her mother and grandmother to be her role models. Though both have gone to heaven, their values, including perseverance and compassion for others, still live on with her today.
Shemeka believes that actively listening is the best way to learn about the needs of others. It is then that you can understand one’s condition in life in order to make a difference, relying on that inner voice, the Holy Spirit. When Shemeka is not writing or sharing uplifting messages with others online, she is spending time with her husband, Jason, close family, and friends.
